About Mick Collison
The Eye of an Artist, The Mind of an Investigator
Welcome! My name is Michael ‘Mick’ Collison, and I founded Fine Art Analytics to solve a specific problem: the gap between the beauty of art and the cold, hard facts of its history and value. My journey to this business brings together a lifelong passion for the visual arts with a decades-long career built on meticulous research, high-stakes investigation, and complex financial analysis.
A Lifelong Perspective
It all started with a camera. From the moment I received my first one at the age of eight, I was fascinated by the power of a single image—the composition, the hidden details, and the story waiting to be told. Whether serving as a high school yearbook photographer or creating my own art, I spent my youth honing a "photographic eye" that sees the world through a lens of nuance and value.
A Career Built on Precision
While my passion for art remained constant, my professional path led me into the world of high-level investigation and finance.
Investigation & Management: I spent 13 years with what was then the world’s largest non-governmental investigative agency. Moving through 10 promotions and transfers, I served as a Senior Claims Investigator, Claim Manager, and Assistant Manager. This period taught me how to uncover critical information that others miss.
Banking & Asset Leadership: I later transitioned into the banking industry as a Field Auditor within Collateral Management. I rose through the ranks to serve as Western Region Vice President for one of the largest financial institutions in the country. Here, I mastered the art of managing complex assets and assessing value with absolute precision.
The Full Circle
In a move that brought my career back to its roots, my final role before founding this company was as a Field Research Photographer. This position allowed me to fuse my investigative rigor with my technical photography skills, proving that the camera is one of the most powerful tools for documentation and analysis.
Why Fine Art Analytics?

I founded this company to provide a service that combines artistic insight with the "boots-on-the-ground" rigor of professional research.
